Dr. Macdonald and team provide all aspects of family dental care including comprehensive restorative and cosmetic treatment.

Dr. Macdonald has also developed a keen interest in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, which deals with modifying tooth position and remodeling facial bones to optimize dental function and facial profiles.

Dr. Alan Macdonald is the founder of Grand River Dental in Caledonia and Parkside Dental in Simcoe. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Dentistry, and is a Senior Clinical Lecturer for an International Association. Dr. Macdonald is a graduate of the University of Toronto and of the Pankey Institute of Advanced Dentistry. He has attended many courses himself on the subject of cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, and occlusion (your bite). He is a co-­founder of a graduate cosmetic and orthodontic teaching program, and has been teaching other dentists in Canada, the United States, and Mexico to learn cosmetic and orthodontic techniques.

Dr. Macdonald has two children who are both professionals. His daughter is an attorney and his son is a secondary school teacher. He also has three grandchildren whom he loves dearly.

Outside his professional life, he is an avid sportsman. He has competed in bicycle races and is an avid racquet, tennis, and squash player. Dr. Macdonald has scuba dived for many years and was a PADI scuba diver instructor. He is also an avid fisherman. Both in high school and in university he played football, basketball, hockey, and was a Canadian track and field champion.

Dr. Macdonald hopes that his patients attain health and happiness, somewhat, through the practice of excellent preventative dental techniques. To the best of his ability he will help patients achieve these goals through his talented dentists, hygienists, assistants, and receptionists at his offices. His is dedicated to providing exceptional dental care to his patients.


Dr. Macdonald is a Co-founder of Canadian Straight Wire, a graduate cosmetic and orthodontic teaching program, and has been teaching hundreds of general and pediatric dentists throughout Canada, the United States and Mexico to learn cosmetic and orthodontic techniques.Over the past 30 years, he has refined his techniques by integrating knowledge in orthodontics, occlusion and T.M.J. Jodie Hoage

Jodie graduated in 1996 as a level II dental assistant. She has been employed by Dr. Macdonald for many years and manages both of his practices as well as coordinates his orthodontic seminar, Comprehensive Straight Wire. She received her dental hygiene diploma with honors in 2014 and has been practicing dental hygiene at both offices.

She is a wife and mother of 2 amazing children and in her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and running.

Brittney Longboat

Brittney was born and raised in Six Nations. She attended Everest College in Hamilton and graduated as a level II dental assistant in 2014. Brittney always enjoyed going to the dentist as a child, which eventually led her down the career path of a Certified Dental Assistant.

Brittney strives to build relationships with her patients and finds their trust very important and rewarding. Going to work every day is a new experience and another opportunity to ensure her patients feel comfortable and leave happy.

In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and playing softball.

Megan Salter

Megan is a student at McKinnon Park Secondary School. She has been working part time at the office since the beginning of 2016.

Megan’s  interests include sports such as hockey and soccer, reading and spending time with family and friends.
